Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the politician and businessman representing Assin Central in parliament for the New Patriotic Party and the current Chairman of the Parliament’s Defense and Interior Committee, has threatened to reveal secrets that could lead to the end of the party if attempts are made to collapse his businesses.
In a recent interview with Sompa FM’s Yaw Adu Boakye, Agyapong claimed that he has been the victim of a witch-hunt by members of the party since the beginning of the year. He further alleged that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) was being used as a tool to intimidate and frustrate his business operations.
Agyapong claimed that the GRA wanted to make his cold chain stores a station for its personnel to police how much sales he makes on a daily basis. He warned that he has gone past intimidation and that they cannot use the system to intimidate him.
“Let me say this, I have gone past intimidation. They cannot use the system to intimidate me. I have to say this; I have opened businesses across the last five presidents. I never went through any of this harassment,” Agyapong said.
He went on to add that the GRA can never collapse his business because he will fight. He also warned that he will expose alleged corrupt dealings at the GRA.
“Whether they are auditing, whether they are collapsing the business, I swear to God, GRA can never collapse my business because I will fight,” Agyapong said.
Agyapong, who is known for his controversial statements, also alleged that members of the party were trying to destroy his business because his son, Kwame Agyapong, wants to contest for the presidency.
He warned that he will finish the party if attempts are made to collapse his businesses.
“I will finish the party, the things I will say. The things I know that I have kept quiet,” Agyapong said.
