MP Haruna Iddrisu U-turns on endorsement of GHANASCO headmaster interdiction

The Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has retracted his earlier endorsement of the interdiction of the headmaster of the Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) following reports that a toilet facility had been converted into a dormitory. Iddrisu visited the school and obtained detailed information which contradicted earlier reports. He stated that the headmaster and senior housemaster would not have been interdicted if the facts had been made known to the relevant authorities.

The MP has appealed to the media to exercise caution when reporting on such issues, pointing out that much of what had been reported on the case was inaccurate. He emphasised the importance of treating people who serve the country in a fair and just manner. He intends to monitor the outcome of the investigations and the implementation of the committee’s report.

Earlier, Iddrisu had expressed his dissatisfaction with the conversion of toilet cubicles into accommodation facilities for students at GHANASCO. He had called for further investigations to ascertain the truth of the matter. The MP’s U-turn on the issue follows his visit to the school and his discovery of new information that contradicts the earlier reports. It is important for public figures to be diligent in their investigations and cautious in their statements to avoid spreading misinformation.
