Fred Nuamah is a Liar – John Dumelo

Actor John Dumelo has accused his friend of 20 years, Fred Nuamah, of lying about him and betraying their friendship by contesting for the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat. In a recent appearance on UTV’s United Showbiz program, Dumelo claimed that Nuamah’s decision to run for the seat was just a joke, and he does not have the capacity to win the primary and unseat the incumbent New Patriotic Party Member of Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.

Dumelo further explained that he and Nuamah are no longer friends because he feels betrayed by Nuamah’s decision to run against him, with claims that he had Dumelo’s blessings. “We haven’t been friends for a couple of weeks now,” Dumelo said.

According to Dumelo, he never told Nuamah that he was not contesting in Ayawaso West Wuogon and could never have given him his blessings to run when he is coming to contest for the same seat.

Fred Nuamah, on the other hand, had previously said that his political ambitions were not a threat to his friendship with Dumelo. Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Nuamah had said that there was no need to fight dirty for the seat, and he would tell the people what he had to offer, and they would choose him if he could win their trust.

However, Dumelo does not see things the same way as Nuamah, stating that he is contesting, and Nuamah will lose the primary if the delegates are spoken to. Dumelo claims that the delegates all want him to continue the good work he has been doing in the constituency, and he is not sure what Nuamah’s motivations are for running.“ I am contesting, and he will lose the primary if you speak to the delegates, they all want John to come back to continue the good work he is doing. As for Fred coming, I don’t know his motivation. That is the point -John Dumelo said.

The Ayawaso West Wuogon seat has been a highly contested one since the by-election in 2019, which saw the incumbent MP, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, win the seat for the New Patriotic Party after her husband, Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, passed away. The seat has since become a battle between the National Democratic Congress, represented by Dumelo, and the New Patriotic Party, represented by Lydia Seyram Alhassan. Nuamah’s entrance into the race adds a new dimension to the contest, and it remains to be seen how it will all play out.
