Daniel Kofi Kyereh to Miss Ghana’s First Game in the 2023 AFCON Qualifiers

Latest reports from Bundesliga club side SC Freiburg has saddened many Ghanaians, as issues surrounding 26-year-old Daniel Kofi Kyereh raise concerns that the Ghanaian midfielder may miss Ghana’s upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games in March following an injury he picked during training on Thursday February 9, 2023. The Black Stars in group “E” will come up against Madagascar, Angola and Central Africa Republic in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The injury sustained as diagnosed to a be cruciate ligament rupture would the Former St. Pauli midfielder and Ghanaian international will miss out of his club games for the rest of the season. SC Freiburg official statement stated that the Ghanaian midfielder who signed a three-year contract with SC Freiburg this summer is expected to undergo operation in a couple of days ahead. Kofi Kyereh has already featured in 12 Bundesliga games, scoring twice for his side this season.

The full statement read;

 “Kofi Kyereh has contracted a cruciate ligament rupture during training and is out for the rest of the season.”  In Thursday training, Kofi Kyereh twisted his knee in a duel. An examination at the Freiburg University Hospital revealed the diagnosis of a cruciate ligament rupture. An operation is to follow in the next few days. The offensive player will no longer be available this season. We wish Kofi a successful operation and a good recovery!
